What is your favorite smell? You might say baking bread. If I answer that question I will say lavender. When lavender is in bloom it is a beautiful purple. The smell is calming and relaxing. Lavender is used in many products. Bath salts, shampoo, lotion, oil, etc. Lavender is just one of many types of Essential Oils.
Essential oils (EO's) can be used individually (lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, etc.) or in blends (a combination of EO’s). The EO's are used with a carrier oil and applied throughout the massage.
Benefits of aromatherapy include:
Increased circulation
Decreased congestion
Improved mood
Relaxation
People who suffer from the following can benefit:
Anxiety
Depression
Insomnia
Nausea
Pain
Note: Aromatherapy is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. Certain EO’s are not recommended for those with hypertension.
I have many varieties of essential oils from Rocky Mountain Essential Oils. If a client requests an aromatherapy massage I will have the client choose the scent and I use the essential oil throughout the session.
I have attached an article on the history of aromatherapy. https://www.deeperspirit.com/wellness/how-long-has-aromatherapy-been-around/
