I often get asked what my style of massage is or what my specialty is.
I choose an integrative approach. I use my 21 years experience to tailor the massage to the clients specific needs that day. I often incorporate Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Swedish, Myofascial Release, and Neuromuscular Therapy into the session. I also offer upgrades. Cupping, Aromatherapy, and Himalayan Salt Stones.
Today I will explain Deep Tissue Massage. Deep Tissue Massage refers to a technique that involves applying slow strokes and/or direct pressure to a tight area of muscle tissue to promote release and relaxation.
Deep Tissue can be painful or uncomfortable if not done correctly or too quickly. The muscle tissue needs to be warmed up first. I start with gentle kneading strokes and work my way into the muscle tissue slowly. I check in with my client and pay attention to their breathing as well as the response of the muscle tissue.
It is not uncommon for a client to be a bit sore a couple of days after a Deep Tissue massage but soreness doesn't last long. Drinking plenty of water and taking a hot epsom salt bath can help.
